Phrase Work

Phrase work refers to a short sequence of movement that dancers are asked to learn, perform or adapt.

In auditions, phrase work is often used to assess memory, coordination, musicality, technical detail, style, dynamics and performance quality.

Phrase work can be drawn from company repertoire, newly created material or a general technical combination.
